OUR STORY

Increasingly disconnected in a connected world

Enabled by technology, many aspects of our lives have moved online. The drive for efficiency and financial constraints in our work lives have already moved a great part of our face-to-face interactions with colleagues and clients online.

The pandemic further accelerated this and changed the way we study, work and socialise, and we are looking into a future where environmental concerns demand us to change the way we travel and experience the world. Although technology has made us more connected than ever, however, somehow we feel increasingly disconnected.

Food for thought

So... How do we cope with this remote lifestyle without feeling disconnected? We decided to find out.

We ventured in and out of the virtual world. We experimented with offline group expeditions in the forest, solo hikes along the coast and online team events.

An “Aha!” moment

We realised that reconnecting with nature was an important element. Nature can serve as a much needed refuge from a busy everyday. It has the ability to peel away the layers of our lives and bring us back to our origins. In nature, we are left with what we were born with. No tools. No help. Just us.

Bridging the virtual and the physical worlds was difficult. We needed an enabler that could amplify the virtual experience to unlock the same personal growth that we would feel when exploring a new place physically. We did a bit of research in the field of psychology and came across a term called “cognitive distortions” - ways that our mind convinces us of something that isn’t entirely true. They are generally seen as a negative thing, but using your thoughts to improve your view of the world can actually be a very clever psychological trick. A trick that most experts have learned in their quest to achieve mastery. Aha! So learning from these experts was the enabler, we were looking for.

Last but not least, feeling a sense of community and togetherness by overcoming challenges as a group was also a vital ingredient - in the virtual AND the physical world. At the end of the day, exploring is all about creating moments worth sharing.

Surprisingly, we found no solutions out there that could connect the dots for us
in an authentic, convenient and impactful way.

That is when we decided to launch

By building stronger connections we enable humans to enjoy the benefits of digitalisation
without sacrificing their mental wellbeing.

And what if…

We don’t have to escape the physical or virtual reality of our lives through consumerism or tourism?
Can we then protect our planet and leave plenty of space for future generations to reconnect with themselves and others in our beautiful nature?
